Horsforth Harriers Q & A

Where do you meet?
Horsforth Harriers meet every Tuesday from 7pm. Groups set off running at 7.30pm after the club announcements. We are based at Leeds Trinity University (Brownberrie Lane, Horsforth, Leeds LS18 5HD) and groups set off from The Bar. See contact page for full address and a map.

Where can I park?
There is a dedicated car park for Horsforth Harriers. This is the car park on the old tennis courts situated to the right of the rear university gate. This car park can not be accessed via the rear gate. You must enter via the main university entrance, stay left and follow the road around to the rear of the building. Our car park is on the right behind the Sports Centre. Pedestrian or cycle access is via the main gate or via the pedestrian entrance into Lee Lane West.

Are there showers?
Yes. Showers are available in the Trinity Sports Centre. You will need to show your England Athletics membership card at reception to gain access to the showers. You will receive this card once you have paid membership fees.

Is there a safe place to leave valuables?
Limited lockers are available in the Trinity Sports Centre. Please ask at reception. The Bar building is not for our exclusive use, so we ask that members do not leave anything in there while out running.

Do l have to pay when I arrive?
No. We invite you to run with us a couple of times and then join officially. If you decide you would like to join the club an annual membership fee applies.

Is the club open all year round?
Open all year and in all weather. No excuses!

Do I have to buy a vest and take part in races?
A club vest is included in your joining fee and you will be encouraged to take part in relays and to proudly wear your club colours whenever you race. Club t-shirts, hoodies and other merchandise is also available.

Once I have joined, how do I obtain my club vest?
To obtain your club vest please contact Hilary Wharam. Vests (and any other club merchandise) must be collected from 32 Layton Park Croft, Rawdon, LS19 6PN. You can make an appointment to view, try before you buy, order or collect goods as appropriate. Message Hilary on: 07780 704 243 or email

Will there be a group to suit my ability?
Don’t worry about this. We have many groups from beginner to winner. All our group leaders are England Athletics qualified and fully insured. Full details of training groups can be found in the Members Section of this website.

Do you train at any other times?
Winter and Summer training sessions are available to full members (held on Thursday evenings) and runners of similar ability often meet up to train.

How will I be kept informed of any activities?
We have a closed Facebook group, targeted emails and of course this website!

Will I be asked to become involved in any voluntary work?
We hold our own race each year which boosts club funds (the Apperley Bridge Canter). We ask for volunteers from our membership to guarantee the future and continuing success of the race. From time to time we may also ask you to volunteer at regional cross country and vets’ races.

How do I join?
See the How to Join Us section on this website. We look forward to seeing you soon!
