Three Peaks Fell Race
The Three Peaks Race, which traverses the famous Yorkshire Dales Mountains of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, is one of the oldest, most famous and best organised fell races in Britain.
This year’s race was won by Murray Strain of Hunters Bog Trotters in Edinburgh. He set a time of 2 hrs 49 mins 38 secs – 3 mins 35 secs outside the men’s record for the current course, which Andy Peace, of Bingley Harriers established 21 years ago in 1996. The female race was won by Bingley Harrier’s Victoria Wilkinson, breaking the ladies’ record. She knocked 5 mins 24 secs off the time set by Anna Pichrtova when the Three Peaks hosted the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships in 2008.
Four hardy Harriers took part in this year’s race. Neal Edmondson was first Harrier home in 3:50:43. He was followed by Nathan Crossley 3:52:45, Vicky Miller 4:42:33 and Caroline Thomas 4:51:41.

St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Half Marathon
Much further afield, one of our members travelled to Nashville for the St Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon.
Despite the soaring 90-degree heat, Frances Wilson completed the race in 2:41:15. A great achievement. Well done Frances (and husband Ken).
