MBNA Chester Marathon
The multi-award winning and UK’s only international marathon from the historic Roman/Medieval international destination City of Chester. Two Harriers took part this year. Neal Edmondson was first Harrier home in 02:57:42 and Daniel Dobson in 04:18:28.
MBNA Chester Metric Marathon
The MBNA Chester Metric Marathon is now a popular fixture in the race calendar, giving runners the only opportunity in the UK to run over this distance. This is a 26.2km (16.3mile) race which is the ideal stepping stone from a half marathon to a full marathon.
Starting at Chester Racecourse, runners set off through the City before heading out to Aldford, where they merged with the full marathon runners before returning to Chester for a spectacular joint finish at the Racecourse. All finishers received a technical t shirt, bespoke medal and goody bag. Emma Harrop finished in 2:24:44. She commented after the race: “I did the Chester Metric Marathon today. 26.3k/16 miles. It was very well organised. No queue for the 100 toilets even 15 minutes before the start and a fab goody bag. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to increase their mileage steadily as I don’t think this distance is offered anywhere else.”
