Hardmoors 55

The Hardmoors 55 started at Helmsley and followed the beautiful Hardmoors110/Cleveland Way route towards Guisborough with a few slight changes along the way. The route passed over the crest of the North York Moors and the Cleveland Hills taking in Roseberry Topping before reaching the finish at the Market town of Guisborough. Three hardy Harriers took on this gruelling ultra challenge. Richard Pattinson was first Harrier to complete the route in 9:48:27 with Nathan Crossley just two seconds behind him in 9:48:29 and Garth De Roux in 11:37:59.

Bradford 10K

On Sunday 19th March, 14 Harriers made their way to Bradford for Epilepsy Action’s city centre 10K road race. Starting and finishing in Centenary Square, the course is fast and flat, making it a fantastic race for beginners and those in search of a personal best. Conditions were wet and blustery. First Harrier home was David Womersley in 43:02. He was followed by: Becky Lawrence 44:32, Jane Webster 45:04, Bev Hurst 45:43 (1st F50), Angela Pattinson 46:03, James Pierce 46:55, Steven Allen 51:57 (PB), Gini Knight 52:28 (PB), Trudy Ellis 54:59, Gordon Little 55:06, Amanda Lockwood 55:19, Victoria Brides 56:14, Laura Reynolds-Talbot 59:11, Tommy Dickson 1:01:47 and Sue Lumby 1:12:21.

Thirsk 10 Mile

The Thirsk 10 is a fast, flat course which gives all abilities a chance of achieving a PB. In recent years the Club has hosted the North of England 10 mile Championship, Yorkshire Veterans Championships and the North Yorkshire Championships. The finish is at the main grandstand at Thirsk Race Course. Cash prizes are awarded in all age categories in 5 years age bands and team prizes.

Over 1000 runners took part this year in very windy conditions. The conditions slowed runners with the winning time of 50:36 way outside the course record of 48:32. Mark W Smith was first Harrier across the line in 59:11. He was followed by: Steve Large 1:03:26, Ruth Moran 1:05:17 (1st FS), Martin Critchley 1:06:18 and Philip Ramsden 1:39:47.

Bramley Fall Park Relay

The first Bramley Fall Tag Team Race took place on Sunday 19th March attracting 40 pairs of runners for a 5k loop taking in Bramley Fall Woods. A pair of runners race as a team, taking the course alternately. One team member cannot start until the other tags or touches hands with them on finishing their lap. The team finishes when both members have completed two laps: 20km in total. Starting at the Abbey Inn on Pollard Lane, the inaugural race took in some of the best trails that Leeds has to offer on a meandering course through Bramley Fall Park.

Lindsey Clegg was one half of the winning mixed team with teammate Jan Michl – they completed the course in 1:24:29. Naakesha Seth and Nicola Revill also took part, finishing in 1:42:26.
