Ackworth Half Marathon
The course is an undulating but scenic one lap rural route. It is run on generally quiet country roads and lanes. The race runs along the edge of High and Low Ackworth, through the small historic village of Wentbridge (both outward and return sections), the fringe of Darrington and the hamlet of Hundhill. Only two Harriers took part this year. Becky Lawrence finished in 1:38:48 (2nd F40) and Naakesha Seth in 1:57:44.
Becky Lawrence commented after the race: “Maybe you spent your bank holiday morning having a lie-in or eating chocolate for breakfast? I spent mine racing in snow and rain at Ackworth Half. But for all that the conditions were tough, I was pleased to run a time that, despite not being a PB, is nonetheless 3 mins faster than my 2017 half-marathon times. Big high five to Alan Squire for your much-appreciated pacing and encouragement in last week’s training and to Nathan Crossley for your tips on tackling hills, I actually overtook people on the various climbs!!!”
