Leeds 5K Race Series – Race 5
It was a good blue and white turn out for the fifth race in the Leeds 5K Race Series with 16 Harriers taking part.
The series is staged monthly at the Brownlee Centre Cycle Circuit in Leeds. It consists of ten, monthly, 5K road races. Each event comprises two races: an A race for those who expect to run sub-22:30 and a B race for those who expect to run 22:30 or above.
First Harrier home was Phil Boynton in 17:20. He was followed by: Martin Critchley 19:02, Philip Jones 20:12, Sean Veal 20:40, David Womersley 21:26 (1st MV65), Andy Bisset 22:09, Rob Webster 22:18, Jane Webster 23:29 (1st FV50), Steven Allen 24:51, Sarah Papadimos 24:54 (2nd FV50), Victoria Brides 25:12, Tommy Dickson 25:13, Joanna Mingham 26:10 (2nd FV60), Sheila Mason 28:25 (3rd FV60), Jacqueline Stack 29:15 and Julie Eastwood 31:02.

A new race this year from the lovely folks at ‘It’s Grim Up North Running’. Runners could choose from a 5-mile or 10-mile race. Sam Foster came 9th in the 5-mile race, crossing the line in 46:17.

A sociable summer five-mile race following the trails of Bolton Abbey, organised by the Airedale Dodgers as a fundraising event for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. The circular route starts from the Cavendish Pavilion car park and follows a clockwise loop up through the Strid Wood to Barden Bridge, then back through the grounds to the pavilion. Mark A Smith was first Harrier home in 35:35 (11th place). He was followed by: Sean Veal 37:00 (19th place), Steven Allen 48:10, Victoria Brides 50:17, Jacqueline Stack 54:09 and Phil Smedley 54:37. 696 ran.
