Snake Lane 10
On 21st February, it was over to Pocklington for the ever popular Snake Lane 10. This is a fairly flat and fast 10 mile course, ideal as part of London Marathon training. As its name suggests, the course follows a winding route through beautiful Yorkshire countryside at the foot of the glorious Wolds. First Harrier home was Richard Pattinson in 58:39 followed by Neil Burton 59:44, Lindsey Clegg 68:42, Mark Smith 71:07, Angela Pattinson 78:46, Jill Hobson 80:05 and Lindsey Lobley 94:08.
Ilkley Moor Fell Race
Ilkley Harriers organise the Ilkley Moor Fell Race each year in February. Though only 5 miles it has a demanding course across rough terrain with steep climbs and ascents. 312 runners enjoyed wild conditions at the 27th running of this popular race. Rob Furness was first Harrier to complete the challenging course in 49:14. Other Harriers taking part were: Phil McGeever 65:09, James Mangeolles 72:06 and Jane Webster 76:04.
A little further afield and in much warmer climes, Andy Perkinson was participating in the Seville Marathon. The course (described as the flattest in Europe) starts and finishes in the Olympic Stadium on La Cartuja Island. Runners follow a historic route though the city streets, crossing the mighty Guadalquivir River at four separate points. Andy completed the scenic course in 3:36:00.
