For those who have not done the PECO races before they are a series of five cross country (trail) races held over the winter months. Race distances are between 4 and 5 miles. All races are chip timed. They are really nice races and there is a great atmosphere at every event. You will encounter plenty of mud, some hills and some rough bits but they are fantastic races and by taking part you help the club to keep its place in the league.

Horsforth Harriers are in a very strong position in the series but we need numbers to maintain our status. The open league (under 35s) ladies and men are in their premier leagues. The vets ladies (35 and over) are in their premier league whilst the vets men are in their 1st division.  It is the male vets who have the work to do this year!

PECO XC Races are moving over to an online entry system this season.

The simplest way to enter is to buy a season ticket online in advance for just £14. This provides entry to all five races. Once registered and paid for, you will not need to register again all season. You will collect your season race number at the first race you attend and then you just turn up to each race with your number and run.

Click here for Race 1 entry or Season ticket purchase.

Alternatively, you can enter each race in turn. The first time you register, you will need to pay £7 to cover your season race number (this number is valid for all 5 races in the season) and your race entry fee. At subsequent races you will only need to pay for your race entry (£4).

All entrants will be allocated a race number (with an embedded timing chip) which they must keep for the whole season. Replacements for lost or damaged numbers can be purchased at Race HQ for £3.

Your numbers will be delivered to us and we will give them out on club nights before the first event or at the club tent on race days.

If you have any queries please get in touch with Paul Beal ( or Louise Whitehouse ( The organisers have asked that members route questions via the club reps and not directly to them.

We are assisting Kirkstall Harriers with Race 3 at West Park (the fields at the top of Butcher Hill) on 6th Jan. We will need plenty of volunteers but there will be more information and begging/bribing nearer the time. There will be the opportunity to run as well as help out but we will need to assist with marshalling etc.

Best wishes
