Gargrave is a beautiful village nestling in the Yorkshire Dales about 4 miles from the lovely market town of Skipton. It boasts, among many things, a fish and chip shop, a couple of very nice cafes, a couple of even nicer pubs, lots of accommodation and a Co-Op, oh and a Premier Inn for anyone wishing to stay. Gargrave straddles the River Aire, and it has the Leeds and Liverpool Canal running through it. Gargrave is a popular tourist destination and is known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. It is also part of the Pennine Way. The course is an out and back course, firstly going towards Skipton and then back to Gargrave and out towards the Dales and back. Underfoot is made up of some towpath but it is mainly grass and very picturesque.
