Swiftly following the festivities it was the usual bumper Boxing Day turnout for the Chevin Chase, a seven mile run over Otley Chevin, starting and finishing in Guiseley.
The local fell racing community see out the year at the Woodentops organised Auld Lang Syne Fell Race on 31st December.
The focus of this group is to introduce people to the joy of running, using Six Week Courses to build up from a very basic level. Everyone is encouraged to progress at their own rate.
According to the training matrix, we are the next group after the ABG, where runners will build on the foundations and skills acquired from Hilary’s group.
For those of you who don’t know me I am Bev Hurst. I have been a member of Horsforth Harriers for several years now and have been leading a group regularly since late Summer.
Over the winter we will continue to run about 6 miles most weeks at 10 to 11 minute miles. I will aim to vary the routes as much as possible and hopefully Andrew will continue to share his knowledge of local history!
We have a variety of sessions running around 9/10 minute mile pace and aimed at runners wanting improve race times and get under 2 hours for half marathon and under 55 minutes for 10K.
